Lessons of “The Beautiful Game”

There is nothing else on Earth that unites people like the game of soccer, far and away the world’s most popular sport. My Vision for Refugees is invested in the game, as well, creating youth teams in Nzérékoré. The teams play under the name F.C. Vision, with jerseys, soccer balls, and other equipment provided by our generous donors. Through this program, we help to create bonds among the youth, and develop a sense of teamwork and community.

Soccer is also near and dear to My Vision’s founder Sam Johnson, who excelled at the game as a youth, earned a soccer scholarship at Mercer University and played professionally in the Guinean and Egyptian pro leagues before his My Vision responsibilities compelled him to retire. Sam also organizes youth soccer camps while in the United States.
